Britt’s new single “Is It Cool?,” from his album Mo Jazzin’ strikes a vibe that is both contemporary, nostalgic. Britt has long mastered the art of pairing his rich tone and creative improvising on the trumpet with contemporary R&B arrangements and he continues that trend on this version of “Is It Cool?.” The tune will strike a nostalgic vein for long time Britt and Impromp2 fans who will remember the cut from the band’s 2003 release The Definition of Love. This version is more of an instrumental, although we do get to hear Britt’s buttery tenor singing the hook toward the end. The song finds Britt working with his son, Josh Britt, a pianist who recently graduated from the Berklee College of Music. The younger Britt’s work on the piano gives the track an infusion of bluesy jazz. Check out “Is It Cool?” and the accompany video here.
