But the talented songstress was standout then and has been ever since, though not necessarily on the front pages of media outlets.
Since her American Idol homecoming, the Bay Area performer has spent a lot of time in stage musicals, landing big roles in The Bodyguard and The Color Purple (for which she won an Ovation award). She’s also been a guest vocalist on several jazz albums over the past decade.

Now Latoya returns with a tasty new single, featuring musical help from Najee. “The Breeze” is just what the title suggests: a breezy light number on which her always beautiful timber is highlighted over a sensual backing. It feels like the kind of song you’d listen to on the beach or a cool summer evening with a glass of wine. It should definitely connect with both soul and smooth jazz fans.
