(December 1, 2017) Bassist and vocalist Lawrence Preston’s “Something For You” is a throwback’s throwback. Not only does the track sport an organic, all-the-players-gather-in-the-studio-at-the-same-time-to-play-instruments vibe, “Something For You” also features call and response communication between the lead and backing vocalists of the kind that a listener to early 1970s era soul music might have heard.

There is also something sweetly retro about the story Preston tells through the lyrics and the accompanying video. The video shows Preston and his significant others preparing for their separate days as he sings a song the expresses how much she means to him. “Something For You” ends with Preston’s lady watching him from the studio control room as he concludes this song of dedication. Check the song and video out here.
