(June 30, 2021) Former Tower of Power vocalist and R&B/soul legend Lenny Williams is probably best known for serenading our ears with the steamy Quiet Storm perennial ballad “Cause I Love You,” but his latest single is all about turning the party.

Williams, 76, slides into a set of slick beats and funky grooves permeated with Chicago stepping vibes on his new release, “Tonight.” His voice, still in fine shape, proves to be a stunning fit for this line-stepping jam as it fluctuates from sultry R&B crooning to upper flights of falsetto. “Tonight” is a timely summer jam shouldering the gargantuan task on breaking the quarantine habits of the recent pandemic and summoning one and all once again to the neon-lit dancefloors: “So raise your glass/make a toast to all the things that we’ve been through…It’s been a long time since we’ve been together/And the sound of the music never sounded better.”

In response to the timing of the uptempo jam, Williams believes wholeheartedly in its feelgood vibes and mission. "’Tonight’ proclaims togetherness and connecting with people you haven't seen in a while,” Williams tells us via email. “It's the new steppers anthem, baby.”

Check out “Tonight” and let us know if you’re feeling Lenny’s latest single.
