First Look: Liv Warfield Wants To Know “Why Do You Lie?”

A Peora, IL native and Portland, Oregon transplant, the songstress Liv Warfield has been gone from the independent soul scene as a solo artist since shortly after the 2006 international release of Embrace Me. The album received plenty of acclaim, most especially for the young Warfield’s powerful chops. The belter had already won industry acclaim as a background singer and opening act for such artists as B.B. King, Al Green, The Roots, Jeffery Osborne, and the Dave Matthews Band. Today, Warfield is best known as a member of Prince’s New Power Generation, where she’s traveled the world with the Purple Wonder for the last few years and performed on his 2010 Lotusflow3r.

Returning with a sizzling new look, a bold confidence, and an even more refined instrument, Liv is ready to set the world ablaze again with her alternative R&B/Soul sound (not to mention her funky new handbag line). Her upcoming sophomore project, The Unexpected, is slated for later this year, but in the meantime, fans can enjoy this video directed by Evan Winter and purchase Warfield’s single, Why Do You Lie, from iTunes to tide them over until we can get a hold of The Unexpected (which we expect will kill, if this hot grease single is any example of what’s next).
