First Look: Beverley Knight, Mark Knight and friends have us feeling "Alright" again

(April 23, 2021) Some songs seem to simply jump from the speakers, taking listeners on a musical journey to the past, or maybe to somewhere else.

That’s completely the vibe of the brand new song, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” from DJ and producer Mark Knight, who has brought together the London Community Gospel Choir and UK soul legend Beverley Knight to deliver a song that feels like an antidote to a COVID-weary world. It is the first single from his upcoming Untold Business album, set to be released on June 11.

“Alright” is 100% danceclub material, but with a message that harkens back to Sounds of Blackness’s classic “Optimistic.” The choir is on point from the get go, and then there is Beverley Knight, who soars through the song like her life depends on it. For American soul fans, who may be less familiar with her work over the past several decades, this will be a revelation. Mark tells us "I wanted to write a song of hope as we come out of this incredibly tough time. I feel that musicians and producers have a responsibility to provide the soundtrack to people’s lives, and with this glimmer of hope on the horizon, I wanted this song to be a moment of positivity for the future ahead."

This is one of the truly great new songs of 2021, and we dare you to listen and not end up smiling while doing your happy dance. Enjoy.
