First Listen: Micah Robinson sings a "Heart Song" for togetherness

(December 21, 2018) Sometimes a soulful artist comes along who has paid his dues by singing background for an established superstar by crafting his skills over years in increasingly meaningful venues forefront.  One of those precious gems, Micah Robinson, has been quite the busy man backing the eclectic soul man, Bilal, which in turn has rubbed off on the singer/songwriter.  Building his own case as an independent solo artist to watch, Robinson might as well be Bilal’s close musical cousin. From the rock fueled, soul dipped “Clarity,” the raw funk of “Speechless,” to a left of center collage of neo-soul, hip-hop and modern jazz that comprises his most recent EP, Experimental Acetaminophen, Robinson’s artistic measures are far from predictable.

In further demonstrating his various musical colors, this time with a soft soulful aftertaste, Robinson’s latest single and First Listen focus, “Heart Song,” sends a message of accountability for everyone: “I’m just one man speaking for those who need a voice/But anyone can make a choice.”  Though the intent is loud and clear about the heart’s passionate cry, the quiet groove is streamed with sweet guitar licks and subtle percussion.  With plenty of confidence running throughout his artistry, Robinson possesses a huge heart which will always be in the right place.
