(September 23, 2016) Some SoulTrackers may not know the name Michael J. Calhoun, but they know his music. The Cleveland native is a founding member of the Grammy award winning group The Dazz Band and is an amazing guitarist in his own right.
After his split from The Dazz Band, Calhoun established a subsequent career with the bands Voyeur, Identity and The Travis Haddix Blues Band, and then as a solo artist, performing soul, funk and even some Gospel music.
We’ve been following Michael for a few years and are excited to hear new music from him. “There” is a tasty midtempo number that features the beautiful vocals of singer Von James. The song has element of jazz and classic soul, and an infectious sound. Michael tells us, “This is a love song about an enduring love legacy between to hearts that still have the same fire as when they first met. She wants to take her mate somewhere they have never been; to keep the relationship fresh and new. I know it's rare, but it still does exist...especially in this song! I hope you enjoy.”
