Second Listen: Michon Young "Goes To Work" again

(June 2, 2019) Okay, I'm actually a bit embarrassed that Michon Young is sitting right here in Detroit, and I hadn't heard her sing before today. While I had heard of her, seeing her name on US and UK indie soul charts, it wasn't until a friend of mine forwarded me her song "Let's Go To Work" that I understood what folks on both side of the pond had already discovered. Michon is the real deal.

Michon has paid her dues on the Detroit Gospel scene, working with the legendary Winans family, before expanding to work with other national artists, such as KeKe Wyatt. But more recently, she has established her own solo career, with increasing success.

Last year, Michon made a wave on the UK scene with her swaying dance number, "Let's Go To Work." With a vibe that would have worked in the 1990s acid jazz scene, she wraps her beautiful alto voice around the cool piece, delivering a great overall performance -- one that won her a UK Groundbreaking Artist award.

We're a bit late with this one, but I'm pretty sure you'll forgive us when you hear it. Check out Michon Young below and tell us what you think.
