(July 3, 2020) We became fans of the talented singer and songwriter known as Music Carolyn a few years ago when she was performing as part of the duo Taniq. What SoulTrackers many not have known then was that she had also established quite a career over the years working with other artists ranging from opera singer Kathleen Battle to R&B crooner Jon B. A classically-trained vocalist whose first musical instrument was the clarinet, Music Carolyn's tastes in music run the gamut from classical, to free jazz, to R&B to her foundation, gospel.

Over the past couple years, Carolyn has taken her own solo music front and center, and her journey continues now with a sweet new single entitled “My Garden.”

What inspired this ethereal song with an acid jazz backdrop? Carolyn says it was, in part because she was able to reconnect with nature this year, as many beautiful gardens have been open during the lockdown. “I used to have to visit gardens on the weekends when they were busier, but I can now pray and meditate in the cool of the morning in my favorite spots with near silence." The tune compares a garden visit to a budding relationship, "Butterflies leave their cocoon / Come take a walk with me / My calla lilies in bloom."

“My Garden” is a sneak peek at her upcoming album, The Labryinth, A Beach and My Garden. “This body of work will be a celebration of my journey through love, and the life that springs forth in the most barren places, as well as the immense beauty that can be found amongst the ashes.”
