(December 30, 2020) Deep soul music lovers know the name Tim “TiO” Owens, either from his 1991 hit single “I Just Wanna Love You,” or from his work as a guest vocalist on projects from artists such as Cool Million and James Day. But TiO’s career has also found him recording or performing with many other stars, ranging from Stevie Wonder to Michael Jackson to Earth, Wind & Fire, to the Al McKay All-Stars (for which he is currently a vocalist).
TiO has now teamed with baritone vocalist supreme, DeVere Duckett (who himself has toured or recorded with Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder and Bobby Brown, among others) to form the new vocal duet Novel.

These two artists, whose careers have largely been spent working with all-time R&B greats, show that their apprenticeships have been well spent, as they come to us with a beautiful debut single, “Cherish The Time.” “Cherish” is a song about being grateful for the special moments and people in our lives, something that we’ve all learned in 2020. Tim tells us about the meaning of the song, "The life we live is but a collection of memories. Therefore, each lesson learned and every moment spent with those we love is precious, invaluable, and should never be taken for granted."
With the kind of vibe that falls somewhere between The Winans and K-Ci and Jojo, the duo delivers a touching, lush ballad filled with strong, expressive vocals, and gospel-like flourishes all around. We just love this song, and think SoulTrackers will too.
