(June 18, 2018) Oscar Davis grew up in the Marcy Project Housing in Brooklyn, New York, dreaming of being a singer. And it all began in church. “I wanted to sing for the Lord, I still do. Once I got my first round of applause, all I could think of was singing in front of people.
As a teen he sang and the Apollo Theater, and then he quit school to become a professional, singing around NYC. He later moved to Europe to join the group Hotline (which later scored hits renamed as Silver Convention). He later sang backup for a who’s who of soul performers.
After quitting the business to raise a family, Oscar is now back performing. His newest single is in a style he calls Brand New Old Soul Music, which is a pretty good description for “Love Always Wins,” our latest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below.
