And looking at the video of “Weekend Lover” that comes with this First Listen, it’s clear that Rahbi also has a little bit of Prince in him. He loves the camera and the stage, and that love is requited.

Rahbi’s showmanship started at a very young age. His pastor grandfather had him singing in the church choir stand at a very young age, and thanks to the constant support his grandfather and parents, he was polished enough to catch the attention of L.A. Reid, who recruited him to be a member of the 1990s vocal group 4th Avenue. While that band never cut a record, Rahbi clearly knew that he had a future in the business, and he’s developed a following that includes some A-list talents like Erykah Badu and Janelle Monae.
