Back in 2007, we held our first live SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and one of the highlights was the performance by the incredible Rahsaan Patterson, a star who had won over millions of fans, but also the reverence of his peers. Rahsaan not only won an award for his Wine and Spirits album, he completely won over the audience present that night.
We’ve been waiting eight years for a new studio album from Rahsaan, and happily that wait is about to end. He returns on May 17 with the new Shanachie Entertainment album Heroes & Gods, and if the first single from the album is any indication, it is going to truly be an event.

“Sent From Heaven” is an instant classic, blue-light-in-the-basement love ballad, with Rahsaan’s tenor soaring over a nighttime groove. Rahsaan says, "In creating 'Sent From Heaven,' I was reminded of how I have been schooled by all the greats and how grateful I am to have been schooled by them. Some songs might have a melody but how many will truly resonate with us 40 years later? As a songwriter and artist, it is important to insert that part of my creativity."
