(January 10, 2020) New to SoulTracks is Estonia singer and songwriter Rita Ray, a young talent with a big, soulful voice and a sense of soul music history. She's the first contemporary soul diva to rise from the post-Soviet state.
Rita is releasing her debut album, Old Love Will Rust, and it is filled with elements of Memphis and Muscle Shoals, thanks to full-bodied production, R&B horns, and her own emotive singing.
For our latest SoulTracks First Listen, we’re featuring the first single from that album, and it gives a sense of the potential we see in the talented Ms. Ray. “Little Girl” is a southern soul ballad that also provides elements of 70s pop throughout.
