July 13, 2021 — There’s a delightful new jazz diva in town, and she’s decidedly taking no prisoners!

Samara Joy is a 21-year old vocalist from New York who won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019.  Despite the pandemic, Joy’s been making her presence known since then appearing live with the best of NYC’s jazz players and releasing on July 9 her eponymous debut album.

Her voice, and interpretations of the Great American Songbook, are rich, gifted and timeless.

We feature here Samara live singing the bluesy “Fine and Mellow” accompanied by pianist Emmet Cohen’s trio, as well as “Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be?),” a track off her new album.  Enjoy.
