First Listen: Shannon Chapman wins us over with "Slow It Down"

(November 26, 2019) Whatever it took to achieve her life-long dream in the music business, Shannon Chapman rolled up her sleeves through intense studies in piano and taking band lessons in middle school.  The career pursuit then intensified with music camps, competitions and whatever programs were offered by her local high school.  Now that Chapman’s firm perseverance blossomed into an emerging career through intimate performances in her adopted town of Toronto, Canada, this vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer orignally from Manitoba has worked her dreamy neo-soul magic releasing several singles on the progressive label, Maisonneuve Music.

While the wait continues for her debut E.P., Chapman's latest offering and First Listen focus, "Slow It Down" soaks in utter calmness, breaking down an escape route from life's hustle and bustle with someone special: "Let’s go away somewhere / Just me and you / Tell each other all the things that we’ve been wanting to."  Crystal clear backing voices flowing through layers of Rhodes piano and a fluid sax solo provide hints of seventies’ contemporary jazz, all presented in top-notch form with Chapman’s production, arrangements and lead voice.  Though her body of recorded work is light for now, “Slow It Down” signifies an appealing artist climbing the independent music ladder - taking all of her past musical investments very seriously for the cause of soul.  For those who simply want to mellow out, Chapman invites you to “Slow It Down”
