(November 16, 2021) Tedi “Son of Pearl” Robinson is an artist who can speak nearly every dialect of funk that is out there. And on his new track, “Your Love is Overdue,” he proves to be fluent in the kind sleek, pounding and synthesized funk language that we were speaking in the 1980s.

Those who were around during that time understand that we were down for having a good time for a very long time, so the music had to not only draw the ladies and gentlemen to the dance floor, it had to set the stage to keep the party going after last call. And with “Your Love is Overdue,” Son of Pearl has created a good time tune.

The cut has that percolating bass line that will have you dancing in your seat and serves as the foundation for funky guitar riffs while Robinson engages in a call and response with keyboard. That’s when he’s not engaging in a conversation with the lady he pulled on the dance floor. The funky track finds Robinson alternating between letting her know what he can do for her while also telling her where the man she came with falls short.

“Your Love is Overdue” is good, fun music that captures a zeitgeist of a world that is overdue for a good, fun time. Check out “Your Love is Overdue” here.
