(January 28, 2023) Soul Kinda Wonderful (SKW) is an award-winning vocal group based in the UK that lives up to their name. For more than a decade, they have been celebrating the golden era of Soul and Motown by performing wonderful hit songs by iconic groups like The Temptations, The Four Tops, and The Drifters on stages across the world. (SKW has a special fondness for The Drifters because their name was derived from the group’s song, “Some Kinda Wonderful.” And SKW has even been recognized as the UK’s official Number 1 music tribute to the legendary act.)
Although known for putting their spin on classic songs by other artists from the 50s and 60s, Soul Kinda Wonderful also records their own music. One of their songs is our newest First Listen. It’s called “Never Knew Love (Till I Found You).” Co-written by the group’s mainstay Richie Sampson, along with Glenn Keiles, the midtempo tune is a clear nod to the classic soul of yesteryear that had love as its core message. The lyrics speak of finding love that was needed but had yet to be discovered.
