(August 22, 2022) Singer and songwriter Stefunie traveled across land, air and probably sea in her young life. Stefunie was born in Grenada, Mississippi and raised in Hawaii, and her Mississippi roots can be heard in her music. She is comfortable incorporating elements of blues, Southern Soul, gospel, jazz and R&B in her music. And as somebody who has spent more than a little bit of time in those parts, I know that you are as likely to hear Southern Soul as you are to hear hip hop in Grenada.

Stefunie put the entire array of her talents on display on her 2020 album Life vs. Love, a strong project that encompassed “You Don’t Deserve,” a brassy Southern Soul anthem of independence and contemporary R&B tracks like “You Ain’t Been Loving Me.” I missed that project, but now that I have Stefunie on my radar I won’t be letting any more pass me by.

And I’m excited about Stefunie new single “Anymore,” the lead single from her upcoming sophomore project, Her Language. “Anymore” has the feel of an open letter expression of ‘had it up to here’ from a woman who has reached the end of her rope with her deceitful man.

The instrumental arrangement is sparse, drum, keyboards and percussion providing a foundation for Stefunie to tell her story of how the lies and unfaithfulness left her feeling used in the present and left her damaged and distrustful for the foreseeable future. It is a powerful take on a relatable subject. Check out it out below.
