(October 14, 2022) Such has become a Soultracks favorite because of the powerful vocals and because of her infectious and well-balanced albums that feature high energy tunes and sensual ballads like “Before Dark,” a track from her most recent project, Wide Nose, Full Lips.
While her originals get most of the attention, Such also likes to give her interpretation to some of her favorite R&B and pop tunes. She included John Legend’s “Ordinary People” on the aforementioned Wide Nose, Full Lips and she gave Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” an R&B feel. Now, she turns her attention to Kem’s soul/jazz ballad “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” The cover has a dreamy video that features two dancers acting out the tune’s story of a love that endures through lives ups, downs and self-inflicted wounds.

Such opts for simple arrangement that features acoustic guitar backed by keyboards and percussion. The star, of course, is Such’s vocals. Such notes that covering Kem’s hit from his 2005 Album II project was a labor of love. She noted that she played the song repeatedly when it was released, and now she gets to honor Kem with her interpretation that is both heartfelt and distinctive. Check it out here.
