World Premiere: Sy Smith gives us joy "Now and Later"

(January 13, 2018) A few years ago, we named singer and songwriter Sy Smith as our Artist of the Year. It wasn't just because she may be - as the late JB would say - the hardest working woman in show business, but because she has spent a career always being uber-creative and true to her artistry, whether or not her muse was in sync with popular trends.

Sy is finalizing her upcoming album, Sometimes a Rose Will Grow in Concrete, which will be arriving in mid-February. It is an eclectic mix of soul, jazz and other elements that we think SoulTrackers are going to dig...a LOT. As usual, she's not sticking her finger in the wind to see which way the trendy winds are blowing, but is creating music that sounds both authentic and fun.

So we're extremely proud to be presenting the World Premiere of the first single from the new album. "Now and Later" is a midtempo number that would fit in in a smoky nightclub but works just as well at a friendly get together in your living room. Her sweet, staccato lead combined with great background vocal arrangements and restrained, jazzy production all make for a happy musical introduction to the upcoming album.
