(November 10, 2020) Dutch soul combo The Tibbs have been pleasing fans on both sides of the Atlantic with their brand of classic soul brought forward, and that continues with new lead singer and lyricist Roxanne Hartog, and the upcoming sophomore album, Another Shot Fired (Record Kicks), which arrives on November 20th. Like the group’s music, the album is a two continent project, recorded in Amsterdam and mastered in Nashville.

The much-anticipated disc leads off with “What I’m Tryin’ To Say,” a downtempo song of love lost that sounds like it took a turn west from Nashville and toward the bluesy vibes of Memphis, circa 1970. Hartog sounds just great, and the band is persuasively engaging in its restraint behind her plaintive lead.

Roxanne Hartog tells us about the song, “The first song I wrote with The Tibbs! I wrote this about a relationship that ended a while ago. We parted amicably, but this person had such a big influence on my life, such big part in my personal growth, that I often miss their presence. I miss how I felt with them around. It’s me saying: I don’t miss you as a love, but I miss the person I became with you around. Maybe I need you to grow. Inevitably, everyone has to find their own way in life, but sometimes the people you meet can change everything. That’s what sparked this song.”

We’re proud to present the World Premiere of “What I’m Tryin’ To Say” and we think SoulTrackers will dig this as much as we do. Check it out below, and welcome The Tibbs to SoulTracks.
