To that point, there have been many songs over the years wherein a man who realizes that he’s lost a good thing expresses his desire to get back the one that got away.
Our latest First Listen, performed by Tony Walk, centers on that very subject. In his new song “Stay”, Tony sings from the perspective of a young man who’s sorry for the wrong he has done. As the title indicates, he pleads with his girl to stay so they can try to work things out. He even goes a step further to prove his sincerity, saying that he’s willing to make an exchange that will result in him getting the short end of the stick. Tony sings:

You can have my sunshine; I’ll take your rain
