(January 9, 2023) When we hear the term “love song,” we typically think of a tune expressing affection for a significant other. However, the definition of a love song can be even broader, embracing the feelings a singer has about his or her family and/or friends.

This is what we find in the newest track by Trade Stevens called “Only Woman,” which was released on the first day of 2023.  Explaining the meaning behind his hip-hop-flavored soul song, Trade told us it was “originally intended to be a love letter to all of the women in [his] life.” He added: “My mother was the inspiration, but my life has been inspired by my grandmother, auntie, sisters, and so on.”

Trade, whom we introduced you to last summer, is a seasoned vocalist whose voice has been described as one that reminds you of “an era when singers were true singers and the songs they sang told great stories.”

Well, Trade is telling his own great story in this musical love letter to the women he cherishes, singing:

“I thought my heart had turned to stone
With your love, I’ve truly grown
You’re the only woman for me
    Gone are worries, fears, concern
Your love has helped me learn
You’re the only woman for me”
