(February 15, 2023) A former member of Incognito, UK singer/songwriter Tyrone Lee is unleashing his latest collection of music on the world with the five-track EP Memories of Brazil. And coming straight out the gate is the lead track, “Soul n Samba,” a song bursting with acid jazz flavor and lots of funky soul.
At first listen, you can hear traces of Incognito inside the infectious uptempo track, even as Lee captures the joy of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” — particularly on his usage of the MJ-focused falsetto inside the breezy backing vocals. It’s a lively performance full of acid-jazz fireworks: big brass, purposeful strings and radiant rhythms.
