(January 6, 2023) There is something about a duet that brings a smile to my face. I think of Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell or Patti Austin and James Ingram and many of the great duet partners who seem to be able to express the feelings that we want to say. We drop the needle onto the record, come close and transform ourselves into Marvin and Tammy as we tell each other that “you’re all I need to get by.”

Wade C. Long got duet vibes when he wrote “Celebrate You,” a tune that found him showering praise on special someone while expressing awe and gratitude that he’s been blessed to have her in his life. The sentiments expressed in “Celebrate You” demanded that Long share the mic with a duet partner so they can show the world what is looks and sounds like when love gets better with time. That message is needed today, perhaps more than ever.

Long immediately focused on Hil St. Soul’s lead vocalist Hilary Mwelwa, and reached out to Tom Glide, who had worked with both artists, to make the connection.

“When I asked her and she so graciously said she was in and I heard her work on it, I thought this was one of the best musical decisions I've ever made.”

“Celebrate You” is a mid-tempo cut that moves at a stepper’s pace. The tune has a funky groove, tight backing vocals and two strong and distinct lead vocalists taking the words out of every lover’s mouth and putting them to beautiful music. Check out “Celebrate You” here.
