Can you believe it has already been a three years since Late Nights & Early Mornings, the debut solo album from one half of the former Floetry duo? Marsha Ambrosius has kept busy with mixtapes, writing and producing for artists like Jazmine Sullivan and JoJo,  and slaying with guest spots on such projects like last year’s Black Radio 2 from The Robert Glasper Experiment.

With a new sophomore project on RCA Music Group slated for 2014, Friends and Lovers, Ambrosius offers up a fairly faithful rendering of Sade’s international smash “Stronger Than Pride” on the heels of last year’s single, “Cold War.” The updated production elements may be a bit too slick for fans of the chillout original, but I wouldn’t kick this well-done version out of bed. Ambrosius and the new hip-hop bassline do it justice. Check it out and let us know what you think.
