Flashback Soul: Lenny Kravitz Pleads “Heaven Help”

Lest you female SoulTrackers think you’re not on our mind, we dedicate this Flashback Soul to you.  Because, let’s be honest, ladies love Lenny Kravitz.  And, we must concede, the man is cool.

In 1993, Kravitz released his third studio album, Are You Gonna Go My Way, which was his first top 20 album in the U.S. and catapulted him to stardom, selling over 4 million copies worldwide.  At this point in his career, Kravitz was an unapologetic hippy rocker, with the album’s searing title track a clear homage to his hero Jimi Hendrix. But Kravitz also unexpectedly slipped a soul/R&B gem onto the record, “Heaven Help,” which features his falsetto floating softly over a delicate, piano-anchored slow jam. Enjoy.
