David Ebo (9 Nov 1950- November 30, 1993) had the unenviable job in 1975 of replacing the great Teddy Pendergrass as lead singer of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. Pendergrass had been the vocal signature of the group through many big hits during the mid-70s, but left to fashion what would become a brilliant solo career.

With Pendergrass gone, the group left Philadelphia International Records, signing with ABC Records for the 1977 album Reaching The World. They got off to a good start with the title track, which became a top 20 R&B hit.

Later in the same year, the group released their second album for ABC called Now Is The Time. The album, which was produced by Harold Melvin, was a sales disappointment and only climbed to the lower regions of the US R&B Chart. But the disc did included this Jerome Jones-written gem, “Feels Like Magic.”
