LaSonya Gunter had my interest with the four tracks on her record Crazy Beautiful. After that, she kind of let me go. Those first four tracks (excluding the 18 second introduction) provide a glimpse at the kind of artist Gunter can be at her mature, confident and creative best. Those songs reveal an artist who displays a comfort level on tunes that run the gamut from jazzy R&B, mid-tempo funky torch songs, hip-hop influenced bedroom anthems and up tempo rockers. I was ready to keep on going wherever LaSonya Gunter took me. But then she kind of just stopped creating, and I stopped following. The balance of Crazy Beautiful is aight, but the last nine tracks are nowhere near as interesting as the first four. Crazy Beautiful is definitely a glass half full work in that those first four tracks show that Gunter is more than just potential.

If her next project showcases the kind of creativity and adventurism that Gunter has proven she is capable of delivering, she can be the next indie soul sensation. She definitely has the tools.
