October 20, 2017 – There is arguably no more important stage for musicians in the U.S. than that at television’s Saturday Night Live. The coveted “guest musical artist” slot on the weekly program has launched, and cemented, many a career. Last week, the UK’s blue-eyed soul vocalist Sam Smith took the stage and conquered.

Performing his new single “Too Good At Goodbyes,” Smith delivered an absolutely flawless performance. It’s like watching a tightrope artist: He’s singing so high you can’t believe he can stay up there, but he does, with nary a wobble, and with great subtlety and authenticity. His backup vocalists are also terrific. Enjoy.
