In July of 1979, Michael Jackson dropped the single, “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” – the massively successful prelude to his iconic solo album, the Quincy Jones-produced Off The Wall. While millions who bought the single rocked that classic A-side, it was the flipside that caught the ears of many, and that gem, “I Can’t Help It”, remains that perfect MJ earworm.
Co-written by the legendary Stevie Wonder with Susaye Greene (formerly of the Supremes), it’s been said that Wonder was going to keep “I Can’t Help It” to himself. That was until Stevie learned that Michael was looking for songs for Off The Wall. According to a quote from MJ found of the michaeljackson.com website, the following –

“I Can’t Help It” made for the perfect B-side to “Don’t Stop….” While the latter was for the dance floor, Michael’s uptempo jazzy groove made for the perfect soundtrack for the ride home from the club. The tune’s warm, summertime feel is perfect all year round.
