O'Bryan was already a rising star, with the controversial hit "Gigolo" and the theme song from Soul Train under his belt by the time he did the nearly unthinkable in 1983, recording a version of Stevie Wonder's revered song, "You and I." Even more suprising was the manner in which he absolutely nailed it, making it a hit and showing his versatility as a song interpreter. We always knew he had the voice, but with "You and I" he showed his skill as a song stylist, and made one of the best Stevie Wonder covers ever.

We just love this song and are glad to present it as this week's SoulTracks Lost Gem. Check it out all over again!
