SoulTracks Lost Gem: Luther and friends are "Voices That Care"

It seems like a lifetime ago that Luther Vandross, Michael Bolton, the New Edition guys, Celine Dion and dozens of singers got together with David Foster to perform a song for the US troops in the first Iraq War. Modeled after "We Are the World," "Voices That Care" was a big, rousing ballad sung by many of the biggest singers of 1992.

The song never approached the popularity of "We Are the World," so many of us didn't see the video, which featured an amazing collection of Hollywood stars and professional athletes ranging from Kevin Costner to Magic Johnson, from Mike Tyson to Meryl Streep (Meryl Streep? Really?).  Perhaps most surprising is that the final line of the song is sung not by the big stars but by little known session singer Warren Wiebe, a friend of producer David Foster.
