Official Biography

Singer and songwriter Michon C. Young resides in Detroit, and considers Detroit her second hometown though born and raised in Gary, Indiana. Her musical talent was recognized by Pastor Marvin L. Winans, which led to her singing background on his first solo CD , a duet with him at the opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia and a tour.

She has opened for Grammy Award Winner Ce-Ce Winans, KeKe Wyatt, along with countless others and continues to be a sought after opening act performer. Michon has topped the charts since 2016 with her first debut song, “Something About You.” This song quickly rose to #1 instantly in the UK and Indie Soul Charts. Her first project, Love Life Experiences, was released in April 2017. This entire album was quite successful in the UK and United States. A total of 8 songs from this 13 track project topped the charts in 2017.

In September 2017, Michon was invited for a debut performance in the UK at Cadogan Hall in London, England . Michon and her notable band, The Silky Funk Groove Masters set forth the foundation for LLE Vol. 2, Driving To Purpose which was released June 2018. Her first single from this project, “Let’s Go To Work,” instantly shot to #1 on the Indie Soul Charts in the US and UK. Other songs from this project , “Go Get It”, “Good Feelin”, “Simple Easy Love” and “Stay Like This Forever” grew along the air waves topping charts as well. Her second release in the US, “Its All About Me” made Indie Music history and ranked #1 on the Official Indie Soul Chart for 6 consecutive weeks averaging over 2K spins a week.

In March 2019, Michon received recognition from the U.K.’s Groundbreakin Awards as “Best Female Soul Artist of the Year” and “Best Soul Single of the Year” for “Let’s Go To Work.” Michon’s performance tours have covered numerous states since the release of these two CDs. She is community oriented and has performed for charitable concerts for youth in foster care and homeless shelters in her home town. She has performed at the Hartford Jazz Fest, Taste of Chicago, Detroit River Days, The DuSable Museum African Festival, Las Vegas resorts, and is scheduled for a four country tour in France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany in the fall of 2019. Michon Young is a refreshing talent and is sure to sustain longevity with her soulful sound , lyrically potent tracks and overall funky yet uniquely jazz -infused sound.
