Brian Smith caught the judges' attention at the 2005 Gospel Music Channel Gospel Dream with his sweet and soulful sound. He became the winner and received a record deal with the Gospel division of Zomba Label Group, part of Sony BMG Music Entertainment. And his debut CD, Love Letter, on Zomba Gospel is fresh, new, creative, refreshing, and crisp.....it's Contemporary Christian meets and falls in love with R&B.

When Smith sings he exudes power with his gifted and talented voice. His sound is a combination of Casting Crows, MercyMe, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jeremy Camp and even Phil Collins.

Love Letter is full of ballads, powerful messages, and musical arrangements that are artistic, clean, and powerful, and it is no wonder given the project's two versatile producers, Steve Huff (Urban, BMI and GMA Top Producer Winner) and Jeremy Redmond (Big Daddy Weave). Our favorites "Never Let You Go," "Hold On," and "Thank You," written by Brian Smith, Steve Huff and Joey Woolfalk, and produced by Steve "Stone" Huff, are the most reminiscent of Collins' work. And"Love Letter," "Mercy" and "Waiting" present a great package of diversity similar to MercyMe and Jeremy Camp.

Besides being an excellent singer, Smith is a strong songwriter, program director and morning show host of a Christian radio station. He is aware of not only the music business but recognizes radio friendly music. This acquired knowledge was applied to this project and succeeded without a hitch. "I know there's ministry that can be done. Songs really do speak to people. They speak to people in ways that a pastor can't or a deejay can't. Music touches people in a way that I really don't understand. It's been cool to see that from the radio perspective and now from an artist's perspective," says Brian.

We wish Brian, Gospel Dream and Zomba Label Group all of the luck with this project and are looking forward to seeing more of this 2005 "Gospel Music Channel" Gospel Dream winner in the near future.
