Although it's been nearly a year and a half since he's assumed office, there is still something incredibly exhilarating about Barack Obama, the law student-turned-community-activist who became a senator and, later, the first African-American President of the United States. His journey to the highest office in the land is chronicled in the documentary, Becoming Barack: Evolution of a Leader, and now in its companion soundtrack, containing clips of his actual speeches and snippets from his closest colleagues as well as music from various emerging artists just as energizing as his 2008 campaign. Some are spiritual (Timothy Bloom's cover of Curtis Mayfield's "We're A Winner," Kebra's "He'll make A Way"), some are contemplative (""Can't We Get Along") and some are as militant as the notion that he would lead to begin with ("Hittin' Dem Streets"). Lengthy, but well-worth the effort, just like the wait for the man himself.
