Mojo Live and On The Verge Concert Series Present SOUL IS... FEATURING PHILLY SOUL DIVA AND NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST JAGUAR WRIGHT
Friday September 28, 2007, The Attucks Theatre, 1010 Church Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23510 It is with great pride and extreme honor that Mojo Live and On The Verge bring you the third installment of SOUL IS...the newest indie soul concert series on the East Coast.  We are proud to present, at The Attucks Theatre in Norfolk, Virginia (distinguished as the oldest remaining legitimate theatre in the nation that was completely financed, designed, constructed and operated by African Americans and opened in grand fashion in 1919) Philadelphia chanteuse and national recording artist Jaguar Wright on Friday September 28, 2007. The history of the Attucks Theatre is as historical and distinguished as the legendary performers who have graced the stage including Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Ruth Brown, Marian Anderson, Mamie Smith, Nat King Cole, Redd Foxx, Sam Cooke, Bessie Smith and many, many more. Today, as a state and national landmark and once called the "Apollo of the South," Mojo Live and On The Verge are proud to present Soul Is...featuring Jaguar Wright live in concert at Norfolk's very own Attucks Theatre.
Jaguar Wright has been tagged the quintessential soul maven of our time.  Since her show-stealing performance at Jay-Z's 1999 MTV unplugged concert with the Roots, Wright has been speaking to soul music lovers through honest gut-wrenching soul music.  Through song Jaguar has mastered the art of expressing the ying-yang of raw emotion that is sometimes emotional and resolute in its convictions. In 2002 Jaguar released her debut album on MCA/Geffen records entitled Denials, Delusions & Decisions which yielded a commercial hit ("The What Ifs"), which was featured in the Coca-Cola's "Nu-soul" advertising campaign. In keeping with her commitment to create her own brand of soul music, Jaguar signed with independent label Artemis Records, she then 'divorced neo to marry soul,' regained creative control over her work and in 2005 released her sophomore album aptly titled Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul. On Friday September 28, 2007 Jaguar Wright will make her Norfolk, Virginia concert debut at the Attucks Theatre.  For more info about Jaguar Wright log onto Jaguarwright.com. The "Soul Is..." concert series dedicates itself to building a live performance platform for independent soul music and artists from across the country.
The series seeks to introduce a vast array of indie soul artists to the Southeastern Virginia region. For more concert and ticket info log onto: www.attuckstheatre.org www.ticketmaster.com www.myspace.com/jaguarwright www.mojoliveonline.com www.onthe-verge.com www.myspace.com/onthevergeonline
