A Revolution Not A Revival by former Commodores member Thomas McClary is musical melting pot of multiple genres to express gratitude, thanks and love for God.  This project is about a "Spiritual" Revolution, "Spiritual" Uprising and "Spiritual" Revolt .

This 15 track CD is truly surprising in its marriage of urban, R&B, reggae, rock, and Latin sounds and styles coupled with Gospel, traditional and Christian lyrics.  The blends and concepts are a good fit.  Influences of P-Funk, Bootsy Collins, D'Angelo, Jimi Hendrix and Santana era radiate throughout the CD.  If you are a lover of Kirk Franklin, Toby Mac and others that stretch music of faith and take it to another, different level you will love this CD; but if you like traditional Gospel or Christian music this CD is not for you -- it may even shock you.

"Ask Me How I Know" and "Put Em In The Sky" have a youthful hip-hop appeal; while "I'll Serve You" has the drop bass guitar beats made famous by Bootsy Collins on "I'd Rather Be With You."  And lyrically the song is equally strong:    "I'll Serve You/ No Matter How It Feels/ I'm Gonna Do Your Will/ I'll Serve You/ This Race I'm Gonna Run Until The Day Is Done" -- now that is SERVICE.  This is a song that you can relate to in many, many ways because not only will it take you back to your old school days but it will touch your soul and minister to your spirit.

Overall, despite the fact that a few tracks fall short, you will not be disappointed with this CD because the lyrics and arrangements are a breath of fresh air and the CD's visual presentation is simple yet professional.
