June 27, 2022 – Half the year has already elapsed? As we emerge from the pandemic and regain some sense of normalcy, it seems like time is racing forward even faster than usual. Luckily, we’ve had some great new music to accompany us.

I've gathered here my 5th annual playlist of the “best” (to my ear) tracks of the year so far. As you’ll hear, 90 percent of the playlist is in the sweet spot of R&B/soul, with the balance from artists who brush up against that genre but travel decidedly in another groove.  The tracks are unranked and are ordered simply for the ease of their flow, but I admit that I've had an Afropop jones lately, and the songs here by Nigerian artists Adekunle Gold and Lojay are especially addictive.  Enjoy.
