(July 25, 2021) "Pioneers" is not too strong a word to use when describing Klymaxx, the first-of-its-kind hitmaking female band. With a killer combination of funky sexiness (think "The Men All Pause" and "Meeting In The Ladies Room") and the ability to slow it down for sweet love ballads ("I Miss You," "I'd Still Say Yes"), Klymaxx had a nice run before internal group strife splintered the group at its peak.

Group bassist and singer Joyce Irby continued on, a few years ago created a new version of Klymaxx that performs regularly and that captures the vibe of the group's commercial peak. What we missed until now was that her band also created a great song a few years ago that is both fun and funky. "Take U Back" has a Minneapolis funk vibe, and an attitude that is all Klymaxx ("We ain't bringing sexy back, 'cause sexy never left").

Joyce tells, us "I wanted a synth bass heavy track that you could feel in your chest and made you bounce as soon as it came on. I got with producer Wirlie Morris and gave him a few samples of the feel I was looking for and he took it up 10 notches. We incorporated writer Traci Hale and after I worked through my vocals, I felt like we'd hit a home run. I still do!!"

We 100% agree. Though we missed it when it came out, we're not missing it again. Check out Joyce Irby & Klymaxx and get ready to move with "Take U Back."
