(November 6, 2017) It is impossible to look at the emergence of funk music in the 1970s without heaping praise on The Ohio Players, one of the great bands of that time – or any time. With now classic albums such as Honey, Skin Tight and Fire, as well as funky hit after hit, they broke out of Ohio to become a world wide force.

While the band has at times been rather quiet since then, their music has not. It has continued to be sampled and revered by future generations of artists ranging from Mary J Blige to Snoop dogg to Outkast.

But the best news of all is that the Ohio Players are back with new music! Longtime members James ‘Diamond’ Williams (Drummer), Billy Beck, (Keyboardist), Clarence ‘Chet’ Willis (Guitarist) and Robert ‘Kuumba’ Jones (Percussionist) have been back in the studio recording the new music, and the first single to drop is “Reset,” a number that begins with a searing guitar intro and then continues to bring the funk throughout.

We’re proud to present “Reset” as our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and welcome back the Ohio Players!
