What can I say about this EP? If EP:001 was the entrée, EP:002 is proof that when the main course drops we are going to be truly fed.  The funky beats, soulful grooves, melodic voices continue on this, the second EP from Phil Driver's concept of bringing together unsigned artists and just showcasing what they can do.

Only four tracks are on here, but Phil Driver has chosen the best, the funkiest, and most soulful of tracks from each artist.  The first track, "Tell Me" by Moses Mayes, is an amazing track cut of funky chords and riffs, 80s keyboards, a great trumpet solo, and pleading vocals.  The song is about a girl in a relationship with a man she loves, but who is just so silent and doesn't say anything.  She wants it to end; indeed she even suggests he tells her sweet lies, just to break the deafening silence which ultimately leads to insecurity as she wonders what he is thinking.

Also check out German band Candycream who have a funky sexy track called "Love What You Do."  This is enticing bedroom music if ever I heard it, with great tight instruments and slightly smoky vocals.  As if the song wasn't fantastic enough they fling in a few hip hop scratches and samples -- which in honesty weren't needed as the song was hot enough as it was.  Either way it's a fantastic track to dance, sway, sing and funky too.  The other song you need to check is "Live & Breathe" by Lisa Couto, a vocalist reminiscent of 80's and 90's star Lisa Lisa.  According to the credits this song was produced in 2000, yet it sounds so current.

Overall if you are a fan of funky sounds, nice vocals, and more importantly live instrumentation then you will love this EP.  I can't wait for the next morsel, so Mr Phil Driver get cookin'!
