ATL Collective brings shine to Stevie Wonder classic

(April 1, 2021) We love the artists we cover, but we have a special love for some of those who've been part of SoulTracks since the beginning. That includes Atlanta-based singer and songwriter Rhonda Thomas, who we've followed as a solo artist, as part of the group Jiva and even as a longtime collaborator with the late, great Isaac Hayes. Similarly, SoulTracks Readers' Choice Award winner Cleveland P. Jones, won us over years ago with "Free Yard Sale" and never let go of our attention.

These two longtime faves have teamed with some of Atlanta's best musicians, together called ATL Collective, for a fresh group take -- 2021 virtual style -- on an iconic Stevie Wonder classic. "Knocks Me Off My Feet" was a highlight of Stevie's Songs In The Key of Life, and it has been covered dozens of times. But this is a special version, with two fantastic vocalist and a crack band delivering five minutes of musical bliss. 

Rhonda tells us, "This recording was a great way to feel the musical love and camaraderie  that we get from working with fine musicians, in spite of the Corona epidemic. There is no better selection to exhibit love than one from Stevie Wonder's catalog! I believe that Cleveland has one of the most beautiful voices in the soul music scene and it's always a joy to share the microphone with him."
