(October 18, 2022) Twenty-eight years ago, legendary funk group Cameo was a nearly a decade past its Imperial Period. But Larry Blackmon and company tried to comeback after the unsuccessful Emotional Violence LP to climb the charts again with In The Face Of Funk, an ambitious album that mixed elements of funk, rock, classic soul and even a little hip-hop.

The album wasn't a career changer, peaking at #83 on the R&B charts. But for many of the group's followers, it was a hidden gem of a disc, featuring a number of energetic, well-played songs like "Slyde" and "You Are My Love."

The album soon went out of print, but this week the band has excitedly shared on social media that In The Face of Funk has now finally been pulled from the vault to become available on all of the streaming services, much to the delight of longtime Cameo fans.
