(June 20, 2022) Fans of The O'Jays are praying for longtime lead singer Eddie Levert, who contracted COVID-19 and was unable to perform with the group at this past weekend's concert in Columbus, Ohio, part of the initial leg of the O'Jays Farewell Tour.

Group members Walter Williams and Eric Nolan began the show giving the audience the bad news, and requesting prayers. Nolan told the audience, "Eddie Levert was coming to rehearsals every single day, and he was preparing himself for this moment right here. And then he contracted COVID. So he's under a doctor's care and he's doing pretty good, he's coming along."

The trio and their band and backing vocalists had been rehearsing for the tour for over a month, and all were excited for the opening show in their home state of Ohio.
