Grammys make nominations in soul and R&B categories

    The Grammy Awards nominations are out and some of our favorite artists have received welcome recognition -- some long overdue. Special congratulations to Maysa on her first Grammy nomination. But there are a lot more to like here. We're especially glad to see such underrated artists as Gregory Porter, P.J. Morton, Lalah Hathaway, Anthony Hamilton, Cecile McLorin Salvant and Chrisette Michele nominated. Check out the nominees below!

    The renewed category of "Traditional R&B Performance" has become the haven for adult R&B artists, and was added last year in response to the outcry from soul music fans in 2012 (including us).  The categories still aren't completely right, but the nominees this year are excellent. Congratulations to all and we'll be watching on Sunday, January 26, 2014!
