Gregory Porter announces new podcast series, "The Hang"

    (August 1, 2019) He has made chart history and brought jazz to the masses around the globe, won GRAMMYs, graced the world’s most prestigious stages, appeared on the biggest TV shows, and now he has his very own podcast.

    Next week sees the launch of The Hang, a brand new podcast series hosted by singing sensation Gregory Porter. At last, not only will the general public be able to listen to Gregory’s warming speaking voice on a weekly basis, they will have the chance to enjoy the musician’s charisma off stage, as well as his inquisitive mind and passion for the various subjects covered in his searching conversations with some of the most fascinating figures from the fields of arts and entertainment. 

    Over the course of 10 weeks, Gregory sits down with such distinguished names as Kamasi WashingtonCharlotte GainsbourgAmma AsanteGilles PetersonAnnie Lennox and more. Each episode, available via podcast services, presents an insightful and candid in-depth chat between the musician and one of his talented friends.

    The series kicks off on August 8 with Gregory being joined by actor and jazz pianist Jeff Goldblum for the first episode. Gregory and Jeff first met in an airport, bonded over a mutual respect and admiration, then performed together soon after on BBC One’s Graham Norton Show. Here the two men discuss their lives, families, love-making, why people are scared of jazz, and much more.

     

    Gregory shines on hosting duty every week, drawing on his own experiences as he delves into the lives of these inspiring individuals.
