Family sets date for Harvey Scales tribute show

    (Atlanta, GA,) March 6, 2019 – The Scales family announces a special celebration and tribute to Atlanta’s own Harvey “Twistin” Scales.  He was hailed as a music industry connoisseur but best known as a designer of the road map to good soul sounding yet he immersed himself across all genres of music. All are welcomed to attend and pay homage to a man that paved the way for the successful careers of a generation of musicians.

    The legacy of Harvey Scales may be best known for his distinction as the first certified global platinum songwriter of Johnny Taylor’s classic, Disco Lady. His music industry career spanned over 55 years and includes composing songs for The Dells, The Dramatics, and The O’Jays.  In 1961, along with his good friend Albert Vance (1943- 2003) Scales formed the group, Harvey Scales And The Seven Sounds known for their hits “Get Down” and “Love-Itis.”

    The event takes place on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Harvey Scales favorite place to relax and enjoy the sounds of jazz and R&B, Suite Lounge; 375 Luckie Street NW; Atlanta, Georgia 30303 at 6:00PM with a red carpet followed by a complimentary dinner at 8:00PM.  The evening concludes with reflections and live musical tributes from his best- friend Jesse James, Tommy Ford & The Seven Sounds, Ronnie Hudson, Tony Terry, Meli’sa Morgan, Bobby Massey (O’Jays), Lil G (Silk), Bootsy Collins, Millie Jackson and a host of others. 

    Friends, fans and acquaintances are invited to attend and remember this “Legendary Man of Disco Soul” and send him home the way he would have enjoyed. According to Mr. Scales, he’s “Living His Best Life “and now let us raise our glasses to salute Harvey Scales.
